National discovery planet (Unity / 2018)
National Discovery Planet is a 3 player cooperative offline multiplayer action game, originally made for the Global Game Jam 2018 with the transmission theme.

National Discovery Planet (or N.D.P.) is a television channel with documentaries about wildlife in different locations. A television crew of 3 members go on a job to document different animals in the areas to attract the audience and win a promotion in the channel. The crew consists of a camerawoman, a presenter and a guy responsible for the audio. Players are required to film and capture the sound of the animal while keeping the presenter in front of the camera documenting the creature and the sound guy outside of the camera, to amass audience points in the channel. Players must avoid animal's aggressive behavior.

What I did:
- Designed the mechanics of the 3 playable characters;
- Designed and developed the art and animation of the environment;
- Designed the behaviour of the animals;

I worked with Adriano Gonçalves, programmer of the project, Camila Queiroz, artist, and João Gabriel Guimarães, artist and game designer.
The game
Each player is in charge of an specific role for documenting the wildlife of the area. Players must stick together, linked by their equipment, so they have limited movement around the area.

Camerawoman - Must film the animal in its environment. She cannot change directions while filming, but she can move around in all directions.
​
Presenter - Must stay between the camera and the animal, while talking about the animal.
​
Audioman - Must capture the animals sounds, without appearing in front of the camera.
​
The objective is to complete a documentary of the area, amounting the highest audience points as possible, without running into technical problems during their job. Fulfilling all their roles perfectly will amass the biggest multiplier from the audience.
If they players are able to finish with the amount of points required, they will get the promotion in the channel and stop with field work.

However, if for any reason one of them is hit by one of the animals, the channel will go into technical issues, resulting in a game over.
